DLO Jam Jacket for Zune Review
Product Name: DLO Jam Jacket for Zune
Manufacturer: DLO
Category: Case
Price: $19.99
Recently, Wired Zune was able to acquire the DLO Jam Jacket. With one Zune, the Jam Jacket, a workshop, and a week of time, we decided to see what the DLO Jam Jacket could give us.
Packaging
The DLO Jam Jacket comes in a well packed plastic cover. Instantly, one can feel quality just from the packaging. The clear plastic packaging allows a potential buyer to see what the silicon case will actually look like on their Zune. Unlike the DLO Deluxe Leather case which allows a buyer to feel the leather before the purchase, the only downside of this packaging is that you don’t get to feel the true flexibility of the silicon itself.
Setup
Setting up your Jam Jacket for use is fairly simple. All that is required is a bit of restraining yourself from shouting, “Oh no the silicon will rip!” At first, we had a bit of a difficulty putting the Zune into the jacket through the massive 3” cutout. We admit, we thought it may rip! But the durability of the silicon was excellent. After a while, we were able to get the Zune snuggled in. To continue on with the testing, we put the Zune in and out a few times, and then, everything got much easier. With the Zune in, you’re ready to go!
Design & Performance
The general design of the DLO Jam Jacket is… what you should expect from a silicon case. The Zune itself having a massive 3” screen, you can easily and we do mean, easily slip your Zune through the opening for the screen. As its name suggests, the silicon case’s design is finished superbly so that your Zune can snuggle in very well inside the “jacket”. The cuts are made perfectly so that you will have easy access to not only the controls without having to press through the silicon, except for the Play/Pause and the Back buttons..
The sides of the DLO Jam Jacket show a unique characteristic. On both the left and the right side of the DLO Jam Jacket, the folks at DLO have actually made little circles orderly to ensure a better grip. If you’re holding your Zune with this Jam Jacket, you shouldn’t have a problem letting go of it!
Another aspect we just can’t ignore is the 24 little tiny holes at the back of the case. 12 at the top, 12 at the bottom, making a Star of David’s sign. We don’t know if this was done for some religious purpose or not, but what we do know is that our Zune feels fresh. As much as you feel hot when you’re wrapped in a quilt for hours, the Zune probably feels the same too. With the placement of these holes, DLO allows the Zune some breathing space. So, you won’t have to worry about your Zune burning hot inside!
Overall
The DLO Jam Jacket, overall, is an affordable silicon case for your Zune that also delivers quality. The folks at DLO have done a superb job in creating a design that is not only attractive for a user, but also loveable for the Zune itself. The white see through silicon case also makes any color of your Zune a pretty fashionable player.
